Lucio Nanni<br \/>\nProducer Luca Casagrande.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>NOTE: In 1634 Monteverdi contributed &#8220;with two songs for soprano and continuo (&#8216;Pi\u00f9 lieto il guardo&#8217; and &#8216;Perch\u00e9, se m&#8217;odiavi&#8217;) to the &#8216;Arie de diversi&#8217; (Venice, Alessandro Vincenti) curated by the same publisher and, according to the &#8216;frontespizio&#8217;, &#8216;comfortable to sing with the harpsichord, the guitar and so on, with the letters of the alphabet for the Spanish guitar &#8216;. &#8216;Pi\u00f9 lieto il guardo&#8217; (also equipped with a three-instrumental refrain to play before every stanza except the last one) opposes to a first part in continuous ternary rhythm and with periodic schemes, a second freely &#8216;recited&#8217; episode on a wide values &#8216;basso&#8217;.&#8221; (Paolo Fabbri &#8211; &#8220;Monteverdi&#8221;).<br \/>\nThe artistic direction of this recording has chosen to perform the &#8220;a tre&#8221; refrain with the cello and the harpsichord, which also realizes the third part. In addition, the &#8220;recited&#8221; episode is entered only once after the first strophe and not after each strophe or at the end of the aria, after the four strophes (as according to the printed score).<br \/>\nThe notes in the form relative to this &#8220;aria&#8221;, kept at the Accademia di S. Cecilia, Rome, Italy, show the following description: &#8220;The aria is accompanied with abbreviations for the Spanish guitar; it consists of a strophic first part (1. Pi\u00f9 lieto il guardo; 2. Io vidi acceso di fiamme il viso; 3. Per mille segni son fatt&#8217;accorto; 4. Non pi\u00f9 rammenta ch&#8217;in pianto amaro) and of a final recited part (called &#8216;Recitato&#8217;).
